UPDATE FROM THE TEMPLE YOUTH GROUP LEADERS

Richa Agarwal & Sohum Mehta

The Hindu Temple Youth group went to the Cherry Street Mission on March 21, 2010.  We were there for 2 hours and we served lunch for 100 people. It was a great experience because we witnessed a different view on how people live and the conditions that they face everyday.  We speak on behalf of all of the youth at the temple, when I say that we are sheltered and we may take things for granted. We hope that such experiences will teach us all how to value everything we have and not feel deprived of things we may want.

We would like to be able to organize a group of 10 children (along with 4 adults) to go volunteer at Cherry Street Mission on a regular basis. Based on the type of work involved, the children should be 12 years or older to volunteer for this particular event.

Thank you to the adult coordinators, Jay Jindal and Rakhi Agarwal for organizing today's event. The adults who accompanied the children were Sangeeta Mehta, Arun Agarwal,  Asha Pitroda and Anisha Dayal. The youth group members who participated on March 21 were, Sohum Metha, Samir Jindal, Sagar Agarwal, Sachin Hejeebu, Richa Agarwal, Priyanka Pitroda, Priya Singh, Sukanya Dayal ,and Maya Dayal.
